Anna Kennedy Online – Autism Awareness Charity

Carers Week 2021

There are 6.5 million unpaid carers in the UK that should be visible and valued. We at AKO feel that carers are the backbone of our society and should be acknowledged and supported. Carers constantly have at the back of their minds of who will look after our children and adults when we are no longer around. A petition was created and we would really appreciate your support by signing this. Click here to add your signature and please do continue to share this.

Carers Week 2021: A poem by our Charity Champion Dawn Avery

“Not just a carer-thank you all”

Please see below a poem written by Dawn Avery our Charity Champion for Carer’s Week 2021

They was never just a carer

They became a family friend

Always there to give advice

A shoulder to always lend

When times were really difficult

When times we felt alone

We would lean upon our carers

Never did they moan

They supported all the good times

Aswell as all the bad

We celebrate our carers

The best our family had

Thank you all

About Dawn Avery

Our Charity Champion Dawn first become involved with Anna Kennedy Online in May 2015 when her son Aston took part in Autism’s Got Talent.

Dawn said “It was a time I would not change for anyone as he really embraced his Autism from the very moment we become involved. We were made to feel a welcome part of the team. We have held a number of Autistic & proud events for the charity including supporting the Essex, The AKO Celebrity football match and the AGT roadshow in Essex. We continue to come up with various ventures to support this amazing charity”

Recently, Dawn wrote From a tear to here – an Autism families journey which tells the story of Dawn Avery’s, our Charity Champion and her family’s pathway, living with autism and ill health. It documents how it affected each of her family and not just her son Aston. It gives an insight into a journey that many would not understand. Dawn was so lucky to have the help Of Michael Barnard- Editor and The Michel Barnard charitable trust- the sponsor.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Anna Kennedy Online to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Anna Kennedy Online we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Anna Kennedy Online to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Anna Kennedy Online will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Anna Kennedy Online receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.
