Neck massage to give Stress and Anxiety a good BASHING! It is happy hormones party time!
An article by our Well-being Ambassador Giuliana Wheater and her video!
For quite some time now I have been literally inundated day and night with messages and emails from people who are so stressed and so anxious that it is making them ill, making many young people self-harm and even causing suicidal thoughts.
Some schools choosing to make their students undertake mock exams when they have missed so much of their education at a time when things are still so uncertain and challenging, and we are constantly transitioning, is causing a huge percentage of our young people to be continually somewhere on that horrible scale of flight or fight, worrying about their results and feeling under enormous pressure about their futures.
Please PLEASE remember that YOU are in charge of your mental health and what happens inside your brains. That is a neuroscientific FACT!
So do not feel helpless or isolated with any dark thoughts. There ARE techniques you can use to lower your heart rate and blood pressure , which soar when we are stressed , techniques to help you breathe more deeply to prevent going into a panic attack, as well as techniques to get that all important neurotransmitter Dopamine SURGING up the vague nerve from the gut and straight into your brains , making you feel on top of the world , able to cope and function , concentrate , focus , pay attention and feel motivated .
Do not forget too that 90% of our Serotonin, the neurotransmitter of happiness, confidence and self-esteem is produced in the gut. So, working on the neck is s fabulous way to get some of that fabulousness up to the brain!!
In this week’s YouTube video, I demonstrate some gentle and discreet massage techniques which you can self-administer anywhere and at any time to keep you on top of your mental health.
So, try hard to look on the bright side and remember that even though you cannot change some external situations, people, or events, YOU are in control of how you process that, how you get through, your reactions to those things and above all your outlook. This will really and truly help you to build resilience which is the key enemy of stress.
So, take charge, look after yourselves and look after each other.
