Yoga Games for Superheroes
Including those on the autism and ADHD spectrum
An article by our Well-being Ambassador Giuliana Wheater and her video!
Since my video last week, I have received so many emails and private messages requesting more yoga fun and games, particularly where it is difficult to engage a child in something new or a group activity. So along with my existing crazy but scientific ideas (yes, AMAZING stuff IS going on inside our brains and bodies while we play, laugh, and enjoy yoga !! I have invented some new ones!! I am on a roll!!!
Yoga as I have already shared boosts immunity, better sleep, it stimulates the major happy and coping neurotransmitters from the gut and opens up diaphragm to better, deeper breathing which massively helps to keep us out of flight or fight. By playing these yoga games, making yoga stories, and sharing yoga activities, the brain and body are not only stimulated but emotional and social intelligence are too!!!!
I absolutely love, love, love how we are so deliciously and exquisitely put together!!
Team building and bonding are stimulated, self-awareness and interpersonal awareness as well as spatial awareness are developed, as well as complete focus, attention, and concentration. So, I might look like a crazy lady having fun but believe me I am no Silly Billy and the proven neuroscientific research behind all fun and laughter is very thoroughly thought out.
Because I DO believe that every child is a superhero … some just need time and exploration to find out just how. With laughter instantly increasing the serotonin in our bodies by an immediate 16%, and laughter also being proven as a great way to engage, learn and retain information, what could go wrong?!!
Let us celebrate and have fun with our inner superheroes!!! Have a light-hearted and happy week everyone … the mocks are all over and I can feel a few yoga headstands of celebration coming on!!!!
Take great care, Giuliana
